2026 FRC Kickoff 
​& PREPEAR Program

Kickoff will take place at Robert Turner College & Career High School at 4717 Bailey Rd, Pearland TX 77584 between 10:30 AM and 3:00 PM CDT on January 10th. Enter through doors A9 or A10, highlighted on the map below in green. Lunch is not provided. Safety goggles are strongly recommended and required in certain areas. Wear team merchandise, if able.

10:00am Volunteers arrive

​11:00am Broadcast begins
11:45am Q&A and Field Tour Videos
12:00pm Conclusion (approx.)
12:05pm Kit of Part distribution (approx.)

1:00pm Optional, review the entire rulebook together and other topics which are listed below.
3:00pm Doors close
​6:00pm Pearadox and volunteers leave

Reminder, the Kit of Parts cannot be picked up until the broadcast ends ​at around 12:15pm.
  1. Enter through Door A9 or A10 into Pearadox Pearland Robotics FRC Facility
  2. Enter hallway and continue down hallway to the right, follow signs to the FTC room
  3. Enter FTC room
  4. Fill out paperwork and show photo ID
  5. Pick up tote(s)

Rules

  • Be safe! If you are not safe enough, you will be asked to leave the premises.
    • Wear closed toed shoes, long pants / jeans, hair tied back, and safety goggles.
    • Do not horse play or run inside the robotics room.
    • Do not step over the field barrier.
    • Do not wander around the school or up to the second floor.
    • Do not exit or enter through any doors besides A9 and A10.
  • Be a gracious professional (GP).
    • Be kind and respectful to everyone.
    • Do not make harmful or inappropriate jokes or comments.
  • Have fun and be excited to learn about the new game!

Kickoff TIPS & Tricks

  • Bring a laptop and laptop charger with a predownloaded game manual
  • Bring paper and writing utensils to take notes, draw ideas, and more
  • Bring a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated
​

OpTional Afternoon Discussion Topics

  • Go through the kickoff rules worksheet below
  • Discuss what robots can do (i.e. conceptually, not discussing designs yet)
  • Game break of having students be robots and to see if we can get a feel for the game at all
  • Points analysis - compare effort vs time vs points for all the different ways to score (or prevent scoring)
  • Using the points analysis and the strategic planning document below, start determining what we think our team priorities for the robot should be based on our team goals (whether it's make playoffs at a district event, be a alliance captain at district champs, or win the world championships)
